An Open Letter from Ken Miller, President of Blackthorn PAC
Dear friends,
The tragic events of January 6 did not happen by chance. When the seat of our democracy came under siege and attack, it was the boiling over of a toxic stew of misinformation and fear induced hysteria that many had been anticipating for years. The horror of that day was the result of generations of self-serving politicians and profit-centered right-wing media stirring the pot of xenophobia, fear, and distrust for their own narrow interests. The attack of January 6 must be the end of this sad chapter in American history. Making sure of that means—as truth and democracy-loving Americans—we must step-up and take on two significant and difficult tasks.
First, we must hold those responsible for inspiring the insurrection to account. Anyone who believes in the undoing of our government has no business being in government! Period.
Second, we must meet head-on the threat of disinformation and propaganda designed to undo the fabric of our democracy. There is no democracy without truth. And without democracy, the fight for equal justice dies.
Join us in our mission. America is at its best when we bring our passions together for the good of the common cause. This is our opportunity to do just that for the sake our democracy and its enduring promise.
